From July 9 to 18, the cities of Fuzhou and Beijing will host the 2025 China–U.S. Youth Choir Week, a cultural exchange event held under the theme of "Singing for Peace."

The opening ceremony in Fuzhou, scheduled for July 9, will bring together nearly 1,000 Chinese and American participants, celebrating friendship, cultural heritage and peace through the universal language of music.

This choral week is one of the flagship events organized in response to China's initiative to invite 50,000 young Americans to China over five years, aimed at strengthening people-to-people ties and fostering mutual understanding.

A total of 22 youth choirs from both countries will participate, joined by members of the American "Friends of Kuliang," representatives from the Sino-American Aviation Heritage Foundation and delegates from sister-state and sister-city programs.

The Fuzhou portion of the event, running from July 9 to 13, features a dynamic schedule including school visits, interactive cultural activities, and spontaneous flash mob performances in public spaces. Choirs will also perform at major heritage sites across the city, bringing music to some of Fuzhou's most iconic cultural landmarks.

A highlight of the week will be a special joint concert at the Fujian Grand Theatre on the evening of July 11, where Chinese and American choirs will perform together, showcasing the power of youth-led dialogue and artistic collaboration.

The event is co-hosted by the Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and the Fujian Provincial Government.

By spotlighting youth engagement, cross-cultural dialogue, and shared history, the 2025 China–U.S. Youth Choir Week aims to inspire a new generation of cultural ambassadors and advocates for global peace.
