Tong'an records 48b yuan in modern urban agriculture output

Xiamen's Tong'an district reported 48 billion yuan ($7.08 billion) in output from modern urban agriculture in 2025, up 6.7 percent year-on-year.

In 2025, the district's grain, vegetable, and fruit output value ranked first in Xiamen, with bougainvillea production accounting for 80 percent of the city's total, tea trade exceeding 100 million yuan, and the "Tong'an Fenglisui" longan sector generating an annual output value of nearly 500 million yuan.

Cross-Strait initiatives at the district's national-level Taiwan Farmers' Entrepreneurial Park led to the introduction of more than 300 crop varieties and 50 technologies. Tong'an district also developed nearly 170 proprietary varieties and 50 patents, recording nearly 200 million yuan in annual trade through 126,000 kilograms of seeds and 120 million seedlings.

The district currently hosts 19 municipal-level or higher agricultural enterprises and 52 village-led companies. Average annual growth in village collective income has remained above 10 percent.
Rural tourism in Tong'an attracted 3.06 million visits in 2025, generating 886 million yuan in revenue, with both figures rising 4.7 percent year-on-year.

Rural per capita disposable income rose 5.8 percent in 2025, representing a cumulative increase of 43.4 percent during the 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-25). The urban-to-rural income ratio narrowed to about 1.88 to 1.
