China announced on May 15 its decision to add Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Peru and Uruguay to the list of visa-exempt countries on a pilot basis.
From June 1, 2025, to May 31, 2026, citizens of these five countries holding ordinary passports will be allowed to enter, exit and transit through China's territory without the requirement for a visa for up to 30 days per visit.
This arrangement will facilitate tourism, business and family visits without the hassle of applying for a visa.
"It aims to further facilitate travel between Chinese and foreign nationals," Foreign Ministry Lin Jian said at a press briefing in Beijing.
