From September 7 to 8, Zhao Long, Governor of Fujian Province, met separately in Xiamen with guests attending the 26th China International Fair for Investment and Trade (CIFIT). They included Adrijana Mesarović, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of Serbia; Sakari Puisto, Minister of Economic Affairs and Employment of Finland, a guest country of honor; Ibrahim Yousef Al-Mubarak, Assistant Minister of Investment of Saudi Arabia, a guest country of honor; Pedro Manuel Moreno, Acting Secretary-General of UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD); and Kamina Johnson Smith, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Jamaica. Provincial leaders Lin Ruiliang, Wang Jinfu, Jiang Erxiong, Zhao Zenglian, and Wu Bin attended the relevant events. 

On behalf of the CPC Fujian Provincial Committee and the People’s Government of Fujian Province, Zhao Long welcomed the guests and briefed them on Fujian’s high-quality economic and social development. He noted that President Xi Jinping has all along attached great importance to opening up and made a series of important statements, emphasizing that China cannot develop in isolation from the rest of the world, nor can the world achieve overall prosperity without China. This powerfully reaffirms China’s unwavering resolve to advance high-standard opening up, and charts the course for promoting high-quality development through high-standard opening up. Opening up is a defining hallmark of Chinese modernization. Fujian’s development has benefited from reform and opening up, and its door of opening up will only open wider in the future. We stand ready to work hand in hand with all parties, following the direction charted by President Xi Jinping, to continuously deepen practical cooperation, share the fruits of development, and enhance exchanges and mutual learning, and strive to provide new opportunities for mutually beneficial cooperation and shared development through new achievements in Fujian’s practice of Chinese modernization. 

Adrijana Mesarović and other foreign guests spoke highly of the new changes and achievements that reform and opening up and high-quality development have brought to Fujian, and expressed the hope to further advance cooperation with Fujian in such fields as economy and trade, investment, and people-to-people and cultural exchanges. They noted that no matter how the international landscape evolves, China has always provided broad opportunities for the world in an open spirit. This edition of the Fair features wide international participation and significant influence, speaking volumes about the international community’s confidence in China’s development and in its future. They expressed readiness to leverage the opportunities presented by CIFIT to further expand practical cooperation with China across the board, and jointly bring more positive energy and certainty to global development.
