Zeng Yuqun, a member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), vice-chairman of All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce (ACFIC), and president of Contemporary Amperex Technology (CATL), attended a group interview ahead of the opening meeting of the fourth session of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, which was held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on March 4.

Zeng attributed China's rise in the new energy sector to consistent national strategic policies and independent innovation, emphasizing that decades of policy incentives provided the industry with a clear roadmap for growth.

CATL has invested over 80 billion yuan ($11.61 billion) in research and development over the past 20 years, employing more than 21,000 technical personnel and securing over 50,000 patents. Its battery products now support more than 20 million vehicles and 3,000 energy storage stations globally.

This growth mirrors Fujian province's industrial expansion, where a cluster of 80 leading firms has formed a complete battery supply chain. Fujian's industrial added value rose to 1.98 trillion yuan in 2025, ranking fifth nationally. For the period of the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-30), the province will further integrate the digital and physical economies through industrial internet initiatives and small and medium-sized enterprises digitalization projects to sustain its economic momentum.
