On November 5,
Guo Ningning, Deputy Secretary of the
CPC Fujian Provincial Committee and Secretary of the CPC Fuzhou Municipal Committee, met with Kent Smith, Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture of the Province of Nova Scotia. Bez
Babakhani, Canada’s Consul General in Guangzhou, was present at the meeting.
Guo called on both provinces to follow through on the important consensus reached by Chinese and Canadian leaders through conducting technical and
talent exchanges in marine fisheries, shipping, and logistics, boosting two-way investment and trade, and
establishing sister city relations between provincial capitals. She also invited Nova Scotia to participate in the World Maritime Equipment Conference and China (Fuzhou) International Seafood & Fisheries Expo to share in opportunities for mutual benefits.
Smith and Babakhani noted the frequent mutual visits and close economic cooperation between Canada and Fujian.
They highlighted that Nova Scotia, a renowned maritime province in Canada with a
leading ocean industry, 

enjoys bright prospects for cooperation with Fujian and Fuzhou. They
also expressed readiness to boost exchanges and cooperation across the board.
