Overseas Chinese conference to be held in Fuzhou

The Third Overseas Chinese Talent Conference for Development will be held from Dec 1 to 3 in Fuzhou, Fujian province, marking the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the "Great Overseas Chinese Affairs" concept.

The conference is jointly hosted by the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese and the People's Government of Fujian Province. Anhui province has been invited as the guest province, and Harbin as the guest city. The Harbin Institute of Technology and Tongji University are the guest universities this year.

The conference features five segments: the opening ceremony, key technology challenges, project matchmaking, talent cooperation, and the release of outcomes.

The opening ceremony will include the launch of an expert service group and the presentation of major research achievements. To support scientific breakthroughs, the key technology segment will offer dedicated funding ranging from 300,000 million yuan ($42,208) to 1 million yuan to encourage teams of overseas Chinese experts to take part in research efforts.

Special events will also be held on AI-enabled employment, digital trade, and overseas PhD engagement. Guest provinces, cities, and universities will collaborate on industry–talent matchmaking to strengthen regional cooperation. Multiple exhibition areas at the Fuzhou Strait International Conference and Exhibition Center will showcase technological innovation, talent development, and urban application scenarios.
