"In the city, you may not know your neighbors, but in the village, we have closer bonds. The local villagers in Pingtan, Fujian, treat me like their daughter. I hope to give children in Pingtan more chances to see the world," said Yuan Ching-yang, a Taiwan compatriot in Pingtan during a cross-Strait exchange event in Xiamen, East China's Fujian province.
