Growing up at the foot of tranquil Mount Wuyi in Fujian province, memories of the ripe tangerines from his hometown stayed with Wu Guanzhen throughout his travels around the world. After returning home, he began to explore the value of the objects, traditions and ways of life that he once took for granted.

You, Me, and Them, Wu's exhibition at the Topred Center for Contemporary Art in Xiamen, Fujian, invites visitors into Wu's studio where he has transformed the memories of Wuyi and its varying landscapes throughout the year into vivid mixed-media works. It also shows his creations using lacquer art, which has long been used by artists and craftsmen in the province to produce works and decorative objects.
