Tsingtuo sets stainless steel application record in Shenzhen

Fujian-based Tsingtuo Group supplied more than 2,600 metric tons of high-strength stainless steel for the north wing facade of the newly opened Shenzhen International Museum of Art, the company's largest application of stainless steel in architectural decoration.

The project uses QN2008 for exterior panels and QD2001 for internal load-bearing structures. The coastal site requires strong salt-spray corrosion resistance, while the densely perforated facade panels must balance strength with light transmission.

Kong Qingmao, a chief engineer at Fujian Tsingtuo Special Steel Technology and Research, said QN2008 has corrosion resistance comparable to 316L stainless steel and a yield strength of about 400 megapascals, 1.4 times that of 316L. QD2001 has a yield strength of about 500 MPa, 1.7 times that of 304 stainless steel.

During construction, Tsingtuo technicians conducted more than 10 visits to processing plants to adjust stamping parameters. The custom-specified seamless pipes for QD2001 also required multiple trials.

QD2001 has also been used in a welcome tower at Sanya's Bougainvillea Science and Technology Park and in Qingdao's subway system, where it reduced carbon emissions by 69 percent.
