China exports first white-feather broiler GP stock to Uzbekistan

China has achieved a milestone in its white-feather broiler chicken industry, moving from long-term dependence on imported breeding stock to domestically developed breeds and large-scale exports.

A shipment of 20,000 grandparent (GP) birds of "Shengze 901", a Chinese-developed white-feather broiler breed, departed from Guangze county, Nanping, East China's Fujian province, on June 1 for Uzbekistan, marking China's first large-scale overseas shipment of grandparent stock. GP stock is used to produce the parent stock, which, in turn, produces commercial broilers or layers.

Under the cooperation plan, the 20,000 GP birds are expected to generate parent stock capable of producing more than 120 million commercial broilers in Uzbekistan, helping strengthen the country's local poultry supply.

For years, the global white-feather broiler breeding stock market has been dominated by European and US companies. As one of the most widely consumed sources of animal protein in China, white-feather broilers have been a key focus of domestic breeding efforts.

The export marks China's transition from reliance on imported breeding stock to developing its own breeding lines and supplying them to international markets. Under the cooperation agreement, both sides plan to further expand shipments in the future.
